To take an American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) Surgery of the Hand Examination, you must log in to your ABOS Dashboard and register for the Examination, during the Registration Window, following the steps below.
All Examinees (Available September 1-February 1)
- Click on “Subspecialty Certification” on the orange menu.
- Click on “Register for Exam” under Surgery of the Hand.
- Enter the name of your ACGME-Accredited Fellowship Director and the Director’s email address.
- Click “Submit.”
You will receive an email in May about how to schedule the Examination.
ABOS Diplomates must also complete an Application by February 1.Those who are not yet Diplomates can take the Examination as long as they will have completed an ACGME-Accredited Fellowship prior to the Examination date. They will complete the Application after passing the ABOS Part II Examination. Subspecialty Certification is not awarded until after you have an Application approved by the ABOS Credentials Committee and pass the Surgery of the Hand Examination.
